Baptism
By: Chris Culver

“We are baptized into the death of Christ, and it is the remedy for the Fall. Death is, in fact, what some modern people call 'ambivalent.' It is Satan's great weapon and also God's great weapon: it is holy and unholy; our supreme disgrace and our only hope; the thing Christ came to conquer and the means by which He conquered." -CS Lewis

Last Sunday we had the privilege of baptizing two women in the Cahaba River. Their journey's have been very different, but they were both led to this river in Alabama where they confessed aloud what they believe in their hearts: that Jesus is Lord. Baptism is about many things. One of the things that is inseparable from baptism is obedience https://canceltimesharegeek.com/how-to-cancel-welk-timeshare/. These two were submerged in the cold October Cahaba because their love of their Lord compelled them follow his command. The entire church is blessed by witnessing two disciples of Jesus do what their Savior has commanded them. I know I was humbled and encouraged by these two who pointed me to the value of Jesus with their obedience and their lives. It is worth dying to myself and my ways to gain Jesus.
